Malaysian Wonderkid

Jazeman Jaafar started driving his cute little go-kart at the tender age of six. Now at 15, he has achieved what other drivers his age couldn't. Last year he became the first Malaysian and the youngest ever to win the Formula BMW Asia Series with 10 wins out of 22 races, collecting a total of 178 points driving for team Qi-Meritus. He also set the record as the youngest to race in the Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race in Sepang in 2007. This year, Jazeman will be racing in the Formula Renault Eurocup which will taking him closer in realizing his dream of driving in a Formula 1 car. He has shown a great deal of maturity in his driving and he wil grow even better for the years to come. I'm one of the millions of Malaysian hoping that this performance will get better and put himself not only in the Formula 1 scene but also being able to stand on the podium making Malaysia proud. GOOD LUCK JAZEMAN!

My First Time in Sepang

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) celebrated its 10th birthday today in hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix. However, believe it or not, this was my first time coming to this circuit and what made it more special was that it is also my lil' brother's 14th birthday(he forced me to get tickets for the race as a birhtday gift..sigh) and I have to tell you the truth, it was worth every penny coming here. It's a whole new experience for me and one I would cherish for a lifetime. We went there as early as 9.00a.m and was able to catch the 1st event of the day which was the Speedcar Series. Being it our 1st time there, the sound of the cars engines forced us to get ear plugs (it was loud), little did we know the sound of an F1 engine later that afternoon was way louder and you could feel vibrations on the ground and chairs. Being an F1 fan and watching those cars pass by you at more than 200km/h is a very exciting feeling and a dream come true for me. What made it even better was that RAIKKONEN WON! I can't wait for next year..I won't mind if its a night race or day race, I WILL BE HERE IN SEPANG!

Check out the sound when these racers were doing a flying lap:

Head down, Full throttle!

Iceman' Victory Lap
Kimi Raikkonen won the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang as I expected of course. He outclassed every driver on the track today, driving with great composure and consistency. Thanks to the splendid job his team did in preparing the car, carefully planned stratergy and great driving by the 'ice man' himself proved to be the winning formula. It could've a Ferrari 1 2 had it not been for Massa running off the track. It was unlucky for him as he too had did very well until the incident. However, I' also proud of Robert Kubica's 2nd place finish and he made the home crowd really excited as the BMW Petronas team showed that they are turning out to be a tough challenger after 2 races. Congrats also to Kovalainen for a third place finish, another point scoring finish for both of the McLaren eventhough they couldn't even match Raikkonen's pace. Only 2 races down and there's so much more to look forward too for this season especially for the next race in Bahrain.

Heidfeld? Seriously??

Yup..it's true. Nick Heidfeld of BMW Petronas clocked the fastest in the last practice session in preparation for the Qualifying round later this afternoon. He finished ahead of Ferrari duo of Raikkonen and Massa who has shown consistent performance in all three of the practice session by finishing in the top 3. Lewis Hamilton of McLaren Mercedes who did great in the 2nd practice yesterday was placed at 11th. However, the real test comes in the Qualifying session later where we will see these racers showing their true potential. I'm hopeful for Ferrari and I'm certain there will be a Ferrari car in the 1st starting grid for tomorrow's race.

Results of the 3rd practice session:
1) Heidfeld(BMW) 1:35.019
2) Raikkonen(Ferrari) 1:35.262
3) Massa(Ferrari) 1:35.388

practice makes perfect!

Massa, Raikkonen, Kovalainen. That was the order when these racers finished their 1st practice session in a bright and sunny day at the Sepang International Circuit here in Malaysia. While in the 2nd session, it was Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen. This weekend's race promises to be another exciting encounter between the top teams with Ferrari hoping to bounce back from their Australia blunder. Being a Ferrari fan, I'm know for sure they will have a podium finish in Sepang and I'm really hoping for a 1st place finish for reigning world Champion Kimi Raikkonen.
Results from today's practice session are as follows:

1st Practice
1) Massa(Ferrari) 1:35.392
2) Raikkonen(Ferrari) 1:36.459
3) Kovalainen(McLaren) 1:36.556

2nd Practice
1) Hamilton(McLaren) 1:35.055
2) Massa(Ferrari) 1:35.206
3) Raikkonen(Ferrari) 1:35.428

For all you Malaysians out there, dont forget to get your tickets!

Hamilton off to a flying start!

Last Sunday in Australia, Lewis Hamilton of Mclaren Mercedes grab his first victory of the F1 2008 season in a very convincing race. His driving was consistent throughout and showed that he didn't need those traction controls. As the first race ended with cheers in the Mclaren camp, opposite mood was felt in the Ferrari paddock as reigning World Champion, Kimi Raikkonen couldn't even make in the top 3. However, knowing how competetive these two teams are, the 2nd race in Sepang promises to be another thrilling race watch.
